• By sourcing our prime fresh meat carefully
• Mincing the meat ourselves
• Mixing the spices and herbs ourselves
• Hand preparing the meats balls
• Using the balls to build up the kebab into a form of a cone

All above is carried out where the meat is still fresh and under strictly controlled temperatures. After this, the doner kebab is placed in the container room where it is blast frozen for maximum freshness.

It is fundamental to our company ethos that we apply traditional methods to create our doner kebabs.  We believe this puts us in a different league to other doner kebab makers, because they generally use frozen meat. We use the finest prime fresh meat, and we believe that this is why no other doner kebab is like KBS Doner Kebab.

It is known to us that other suppliers use ingredients which compromise their integrity and create a poor quality donor kebab.  We promise you that we will always give you the very best doner kebab because we are passionate about what we do.

• We do not ever use MRM (mechanically recovered meat)
• We do not use frozen meat
• We do not use genetically modified ingredients
• We do not use fish
• We do not use egg powder
• We do not use milk powder
• We do not use chicken skin
• We do not use sulphur dioxide
• We do not use water or any other fillers (bread crumbs)
• We do not use any preservatives, colouring or  dyes

KBS is a family run business that was first established in 1995, where the company started producing doner kebab in a small unit in Cardiff .

By the year 2000 KBS succeeded in turning the poor reputation of doner kebabs in South Wales to the most popular fast food choice, by virtue of the finest ingredients and traditional techniques. With this success came the need to move to purpose build modern facilities at the heart of the city centre of Cardiff.

During this time, the company matured into a medium sized professional state that still maintained the friendly demeanour that encouraged it’s popularity. This allowed for a more varied role within the industry, and our customers were distinctly impressed with the time and effort put into understanding and fulfilling their individual needs.

It was our aim to work tirelessly to progress to meet United Kingdom and Europe health safety and hygiene standards and also the implementation of the HACCP standards.

The follwing consumer advice is based on our own trading experience and can be used as a guideline.

1. We would like to draw consumer attention to be aware of what the doner kebab is made from. Don’t be afraid of asking the takeaway shop what ingredients are in the donor kebab meat.  This is important to promote healthy eating, and ever increasing allergy issues.
2. In our experience the quality of the meat content can be identified simply  by looking at it’s colour; the darker it looks the more meat content, the lighter it is the more fat content; based on the assumption there is no colouring being used.
3. While the doner kebab cooks by oscilating around on the spit  in front of the fire, oil should be dripping out from the kebab on to the tray  underneath. If the kebab  looks dry it could mean that the meat  is full of emulsifiers and fillers so it  holds the fat in, rather than it coming out as it cooks.  This means that you will be eating more of the fat as it cannot be released in cooking.
4. As with all Meat it should be cooked thoroughly.

We take our responsibility to our customers very seriously.  Despite the volatile meat market and excessive cost of general ingredients, K.B.S. has continued to use the same prime fresh meat and authentic eastern herbs and spices in our doner kebab.

You are welcome to look at some of the companies that are undercutting our prices, and if you wonder how they do it…read on!

There are less scrupulous doner kebab makers that will use “cheaper meat” which is much higher in fat content, and also by adding emulsifiers, preservatives; and they might also mix in fish, chicken, milk powder, egg powder and  MRM (mechanically recovered meat) in order to create a  cheaper doner kebab.
